Ripatrasone

Ripatrasone

Sitting on a ridge less than thirteen kilometers inland from the Adriatic Coast is the charming brick town of Ripatrasone. The top of the town is crowned by Piazza XX Settembre where you will find the Tourist Information office as well as the Opera House, Palazzo del Podesta and the municipal offices. From here Corso Vittorio Emanuele will take you down past the sixteenth century cattedrale. There is evidence of the former defensive walls around this hill-top town but they do not completely encircle the town. This is a charming medieval town with beautiful views of the surrounding hills covered with grapes and olives.

As you walk through the town you will notice a sign for the narrowest alley in Italy, Vicolo Stretto that connects two streets and is no more than two feet wide. Many towns claim to have the narrowest street but this one just might be the true record holder.

Along the walls on the west side of the town you will find wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding rolling hills and the Adriatic Sea. On a clear day you can see the Sibillini and Gran Sasso Mountains in the distance.

There are many shops in town to fulfill your daily needs and here you are in the middle of the grape production for the local Piceno wines. There is easy access to the autostrada A14 at the Grottammare exit and this town is only minutes from the beaches of Grottammare and San Benedetto del Tronto.
